It was a shock encounter for actress Sameera Reddy in Malaysia when she was threatened and allegedly manhandled by the guards of the Prime Minister of Malaysia. The actress was in Kuala Lumpur shooting for the Saran-directed film Asal starring Ajith Kumar in dual roles.
Reports say, Sameera was not allowed to enter the lift as someone important was travelling up. When she tried to take the next ride up, she was threatened by the guards. Annoyed at this, Sameera was seen shouting at the guards and later she realized that they were the security guards of the Prime Minister of Malaysia. With the intervention of the hotel staff, the actress made a safe exit.
Though Sameera Reddy made her acting career debut in Maine Dil Tujhko Diya (2002), she could not perform in big blockbusters and become a big star. But she got a break in Tamil Cinema when she acted opposite Surya Sivakumar in the hit movie Vaaranam Aayiram directed by Gautham Menon. Sameera's portrayal of the girl Meghna has earned her rave reviews and her performance has been rated as one of her best so far.
Her success in Vaaranam Aayiram got her to Asal, directed by Saran and produced by Prabhu Ganesan and Ramkumar Ganesan of Sivaji Productions. It is reported to be the most expensive Ajith film ever made and is scheduled for release in November 2009.
